Located in the suburb of Chippendale is The Old Clare Hotel, a luxe accommodation option with creative styling. The hotel is surrounded by art studies, galleries and cafes, and is close to Prince Alfred Park, Powerhouse Museum and Central Station. Darling Harbour is only a 15-minute walk away.
The hotel sits on the site of an old brewing company (Tooth and Co., and later Carlton United Brewaries). All of the original buildings were demolished and redeveloped to make way for this stunning boutique hotel. The one exception to this is the Boardroom building which was retained, restored, and converted into luxury hotel accommodation. You can request to book this room, which retains many of the original period details from that era.
Each room type has its own completely unique styling, that combines modern comforts with heritage or retro decor. There are unique vintage furniture pieces, including some that were salvaged from the original brewery. The bathrooms vary room to room, but all include Triumph & Disaster amenities. Guests have access to complimentary Wi-Fi, a Bluetooth sound dock and HD TV.
At Automata, diners can dine on an eclectic tasting menu which is frequently modified by the talented head chef. Up above is The Old Clare Rooftop Bar, which serves a variety of snacks as well as premium drinks and cocktails. Open from 7am, The Clare offers breakfast in the morning, a light lunch, and cocktails in the evening.
Next to the rooftop bar is the heated pool, reserved exclusively for guests. There is a 24hr gym onsite which features TechnoGym machines and strength training weights. A personal trainer is available upon request. There are also complimentary bikes which can be used to explore the city.
