Ten Minutes by Tractor

Overseen by Head Chef Hayden Ellis, who has worked in some of the leading restaurants in the world, including The Fat Duck and the Ledbury in the United Kingdom and Vue de monde, Dinner by Heston,  and Bistro Guillaume in Melbourne, the restaurant offers an inventive menu that reflects a strong connection between food, nature and wine.

Dishes like kangaroo en croûte with tarragon emulsion and roast Eugowra quail with smoked beetroot, sickle pod and white asparagus, are just a couple of the fine dining offerings to expect. While the wine list, hand-picked by Head Sommelier Xavier Vigier includes Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling and Pinot Gris.


Located in the Cape Schanck Resort on the Mornington Peninsula, the Cape Restaurant provides a wonderful dining experience.

Just a short 15-minute drive to the gorgeous Bushrangers Bay, Peninsula Hot Springs, and historic Cape Schanck Lighthouse, the restaurant presents an intimate dining space with a vibrant open kitchen, mood lighting and private booths to enjoy a cosy meal.

Head Chef Jordan Clavaron has curated a multicourse set menu of five dishes that fuse traditional French cuisine with fresh local produce. 

Local wines are matched to each course, while an optional cheese and caviar course will elevate your dining experience further.

By way of a leaving present, handmade chocolates, created on site, are handed out to diners to enjoy on the way home.

Green Olive

If you are in to paddock-to-plate style menus then Green Olive is the place for you.

A family friendly 27-acre farm in Red Hill, Green Olive is home to olive groves, vegetable patches and herb gardens, as well as Wiltshire sheep and Berkshire pigs.

This translates to a tapas share menu that offers dishes like minted lamb meatballs with house-made tomato relish, and pork rillettes with cornichons and red-onion marmalade.

In addition to what is served in the restaurant, they also sell a wide range of jams, relishes and chutneys made from garden crops.

Guests can also take a tour of the farm or do a workshop, such as sausage or pasta-making, as well as preserving and butchery. 


Located on a stunning 50-acre property in Red Hill, that incorporates seven vineyards and more than 30 acres of vines, Montalto is another winery that offers an exceptional dining experience.

Boasting a deck that overlooks fabulous sculptures and gorgeous vines, they offer refined modern Australian dining with a stunning kitchen garden.

The food is so good here that since opening in 2002 they have been awarded 16 Good Food Chef’s Hats. 

Under the current guidance of head chef Matt Wilkinson, the menu includes such delights as Jerusalem artichokes with ginger, sea urchin and shiitake. While all of their wines are available by the glass.

A range of their wines can also be sampled at their Cellar Door too.

Doot Doot Doot

Situated in the Jackalope Hotel, which is located within the Willow Creek Vineyard, the charmingly named Doot Doot Doot, is probably one of the most illuminating dining experiences in the whole world.

Featuring a ceiling with no less than 10,000 bright lights, which were installed by artist Jan Flook to represent wine in mid-ferment, the dining room is lavish to say the least.

The food too is a 5 course set menu extravaganza, which includes the likes of XO Morton Bay Bug, Wattle Crusted Kangaroo and a delicious Hapuku. Whilst the wine cellar incorporates no less than 1200 top quality bottles.

Nestled in the heart of Manly, behind The Corso, these guys excel in producing the most wonderfully decadent and satisfying pastries. 

And we are not just talking regular apple Danishes and cream buns. We mean options like their eggplant, hummus, jalapeño and zaatar croissant, which is simply to die for!

The perfect breakfast snack to take over to the park or beach, all of their croissants and other pastries are rolled, and baked, daily in house, so they are always fresh.

Ruby’s At The Beach

An ethical eatery based in East Mona Vale, not far from the location of the iconic ocean rockpool, Ruby Lane aims to serve the most nutrient-dense food in the Northern Beaches.

Always busy, usually with hipsters and health conscious individuals who embrace clean eating, the menu is delicious and well thought out.

Dishes like the smoked salmon frittata or protein stack offer great sustenance and flavour bombs aplenty. While their ‘Healing Bowl’ which features coconut scrambled eggs, black beans, asparagus and enoki mushrooms is a real house favourite.

Flying Fox Cafe

If you are dining with the kids then the Flying Fox in Mona Vale is a brilliant choice.

Featuring toys, play activities and a fenced-in playground, as well as undercover seating and a ‘Cubs Club’ menu, this is one of the most family-friendly cafes in the whole of the Northern Beaches region.

One of the best known restaurants in Seminyak is Sardine.

You will need to make a reservation well ahead, such is the popularity of this place, but it will be eminently worth it.

Offering exceptional Asian fusion-inspired cuisine, the restaurant’s décor takes inspiration from colonial Britain in Shanghai circa 1920, featuring marble top mah-jong tables, Chinese artwork and gorgeous tan leather Chesterfield lounge chairs.

Fully air-conditioned, the restaurant is located right at the start of the main strip of shops that run its course from Seminyak to Oberoi.


If you are looking for top notch food to satisfy a big hunger then Sarong is a solid bet.

Owned by celebrity Chef Will Meyrick, aka The Street Food Chef, who also owns Mama San, this restaurant was awarded the title of World’s Hottest New Restaurant by Conde Nast.

Located in the vibrant district of Petitenget, the extensive menu caters to all tastes.

It has a reputation for serving Asian, Indonesian Thai, Sri Lanka, and Indian meals in ‘hearty portions’. Though dishes are highly spiced as a matter of course, so you might need to ask the wait staff to tone down the chili a bit.

If you do find the food a bit on the hot side, the watermelon mojitos are the perfect beverage to cool yourself down with.


Another great restaurant for date night or special celebrations is Metis.

Sitting on the corner of where Petitenget Street starts, this venue is not just a high quality place to dine, it is also an exceptional art gallery and lounge as well.

Boasting spectacular views of the rice paddy fields and lotus ponds opposite, this Seminyak restaurant presents exquisite French Mediterranean haute-cuisine in an al fresco and indoor setting.

La Lucciola

An institution in Seminyak institution, La Lucciola offers a fine dining experience right on the beach.

Located close to the Samaya Bali Resort, the restaurant is always busy until late at night. Which is not surprising considering it serves a delicious menu that features international fusion and Mediterranean cuisine.

Hanuman Darwin

Offering a taste of south-east Asia in the heart of the Darwin CBD, Hanuman Restaurant presents delicious Thai and Indian food in a relaxed, spacious dining room with high ceilings and ornate Asian wood carvings.

Run by successful restaurateur Jimmy Shu, the menu is a seamless offering of Thai and Indian dishes. Their oysters with zingy chilli sauce and chicken chettinad sits hand in hand with lamb korma and South Indian goat curry to provide a selection that should appeal to all.

Wharf One Food & Wine

Enjoying a prime position overlooking the lagoon of the Darwin waterfront, Wharf One Food & Wine has a lot going for it even before you tuck in to your meal.

As each table offers sensational water views the atmosphere here is relaxed and congenial. Which sets you off on the right track to indulge in its popular wood-fired tapas menu.

Part of Mindil Beach Casino Resort, this recently refurbished eatery caters primarily to carnivores.

Overlooking a stunning swimming lagoon, the menu offers prime cuts of beef from all over Australia.

Championing itself as Darwin’s Hottest New Steakhouse, their Black Angus eye fillet from Byron Bay is one of their most popular dishes.

The Cyclone Café

Located in Parap, the rusty corrugated iron aesthetic of The Cyclone Café might not be the sexiest of facades. But when you realise, it is a reference to the devastating Cyclone Tracy that hit Darwin on Christmas Day in 1974, it starts to make sense.

Signifying the tin that flew off roofs during the cyclone, and thus posed the greatest danger of all to the local residents, the café has a relaxed and friendly vibe. 

Serving excellent coffee and a global menu of brunch eats like burritos and smashed avo with feta and dukkah, it’s a lovely place to discover what makes Darwinians such a resilient bunch.
